Thanks, Shuchi. I've often found your posts on the FT crossword useful! To the extent that I have any theory about why the Guardian posts attract so many comments, I suspect it's a combination of:

The self-perpetuating nature of the community of people who comment

The often rather eccentric clues which appear compared to other newspapers

The Guardian crossword certainly has a distinct reputation for the latter :)

Great compilation, Mark. The Guardian crossword's comment space is very lively! I wonder if Guardian solvers are more exacting. I blog about the FT crossword on fifteensquared; even the most potentially controversial FT crosswords get nowhere near that range of comments.

Thanks. I may well have missed some posts, since I was rather haphazardly using Google to locate them in order to avoid using up the server's CPU or bandwidth quota.

Mark
Thanks for the summary and for reminding me about a post I made some time ago, but one that is still relevant. Some people take crosswords far too seriously. They are meant to be a form of entertainment and therefore fun.

I am not sure that you have got the puzzle with the most comments in your list. From memory this was an Araucaria but it may have had some comments removed for being off-topic.
